BPC-Bit Pastry Chain is a platform for tracking puff pastry production. The platform makes available the functionality to capture environmental and raw material data by communicating with the sensors present and the pastry maker through a tablet equipped with a voice interface. The information collected is stored in the blockchain and generates the BIT PASTRY NFT of the batch that certifies the non-manipulable authenticity of the product that can be accessed through a simple NFC smartphone.

Components of the Platform

BitPastry – BackEnd, manages the master records of production processes, raw materials, recipes, ingredients used, and IoT devices present for direct data acquisition BitPastry – LabManager, manages the planning stages of processing orders in terms of quantities and products to be made BitPastry – Worker, follows the processing stages with a tablet equipped with a voice interface to acquire the data of the production process, while the oven and refrigerator temperatures are acquired directly from the sensors present in the lab; BitPastry – Consumer WebApp, for browsing the product’s traceability and nutritional information, taken from the blockchain, through the use of a tag and to rate the experience; Analysis Dashboard, shows the progress of the production and the consumers’ liking.

In this video we can see the pastry chef’s interactions with BitPastryChain during the execution of the process. He uses the “Lab Worker” station equipped with an iPad and smartphone to monitor activities.
The process ends with the packaging of the puff pastry and the affixing of the NFC tag to enable the consumer to find the product information.
